In conjunction with our dog training service Naked Dog Training, and our general dog website, Doglinks.co.nz, we are offering a home for your dog while you are away.

We know how difficult it can be to rely on friends, and family to look after your dog. Plans change.

Once you can't find someone to help your pooch find a temporary home, you resort to dog kennels. Some offer great facilities, but it might be crowded and if your dog isn't used to living with a room full of dogs, dog barks, and new people, then you might think of one on one family homestays.

Who we are and what we offer

Blair and Natalie are part of the Naked Dog Team. We offer dog training for those who would like one on one training in the comforts of their home. It just makes sense to extend our service to caring for your dog while you are away.

When your dog lives with us, he is learning our house rules, and our dog rules in conjunction with our dog called Holmes. Holmes is a 14 year old Border Collie/ Beagle. He's been our companion animal all his life. He will help teach your dog the house rules. Holmes gets on with everyone, and with most dogs. As of May 2010, Holmes is no longer with us but is a good place called doggie heaven.

Your dog may be staying with other dogs that we might be rehoming, or homestaying. But all dogs get our attention, our love, and get to sit in front of the fire on cold winter nights (usually shared seating with Natalie :) )

Your dog will also benefit from daily teaching, and learning while on walks. We can provide feedback on some issues that you might be concerned with.

Services and Costs

The cost of our homestay depends on the length of the stay, and if you are a client/non-client. Our usually price is $25/day for clients, and $30/day for non-clients. These rates are per dog.

Who becomes a client? A client takes either our puppy class, or our older dog class for $85.00 or $80.00 respectively. Or have a private consultation.

Prices for long term are the following--non-holiday time.
Over Christmas, there is no discount.

Full price for the first 10 days.
10% off for the 2nd 10 days
20% off for the 3rd 10 days
30% off for the 4th 10 days
40% off for the 5th 10 days


This means:

Client dog prices:

Day 1 to Day 10: ..$25.00/day
Day 11 to Day 21: $22.50/day  = $225.00
Day 22 to Day 32: $20.00/day  = $200.00
Day 32 to Day 42: $17.50/day  = $175.00

Non-client dog prices:

Day 1 to Day 10: ..$30.00/day =  $300.00 per dog
Day 11 to Day 21: $27.00/day  = $270.00
Day 22 to Day 32: $24.00/day  = $250.00
Day 32 to Day 42: $18.00/day  = $180.00


Dog owners must provide dietary requirements, bedding, toys. They also need to fill out a questionnaire that we send out... basically emergency contact details, vet details, and you need to talk to your vet and let them know that we have your dog and that any vet cost is paid for... and other questions pertaining to accidents, and liability.

A 50% non-refundable payment is required to confirm your dog's place in our home, and the balance due when you bring your dog(s). Dogs are booked on first deposit received basis.

Find us

We are conveniently located near Porritt Park, and the Avon River. We have a huge area for dog walking, and off-lead dog walking. Lucky us!

How to pay us

There are several ways of paying for this:

1) Bank transfer

When you transfer money by ONLINE banking to our account, please add your name in the "description" so that we know who paid us.

2) Payment by cheque -- if you wish to pay by cheque, we will send you our details.

3) Visa payment through PayPal -- we will email you an invoice via PayPal if you wish to pay by this method.
